About the Awards

The Achiever Awards honour and recognise companies (of all sizes), government departments and organisations who have demonstrated their commitment to the advancement of their employee’s skills base by implementing skills development and training programmes that are relevant, innovative and effective.

Backed by the success of the previous awards ceremony, the eighth installation of the Achiever Awards is certain to attract an overwhelming response. With the pledged support of more than 350 key industry players, government institutions, trade councils, the bar will be raised even higher. The honours of the Achiever Awards are bestowed upon employers whose skills development programmes have undergone a rigorous screening process by an independent panel of judges made up of academics, and qualified trade and industry experts.

CATEGORIES

1. Best Innovative Training Programme

This award recognises the most innovative and progressive training programme in all mediums of creativity and highlighted originality in the process.


2. Best Training Partnership Programme

Nomination for the best training partnership programme utilising the contributions of multitude stakeholders which has developed and expanded its reputation in training and business.


3. Best Graduate Trainee Programme

Award to recognise an intensive graduate trainee programme that supports youth development and yields good results in business in any sector


4. Best Training Programme : Small Company

For small companies offering excellent training with a staff compliment of less than 50 employees, helping to excel in its area of business - all sectors


5. Best Public Sector Training Programme

Recognising a government department that has implemented an effective and relevant skills development initiative. The winning programme will have shown exceptional creativity and innovation and brought about positive change in driving service delivery and Batho Pele.


6. Best Training Programme : Large Company

For large companies (more than 200 employees) offering exceptional training - all sectors.

7. Best Training Provider

Recognising a training provider that provided excellent skills
development services to a client or a number of clients.

AWARD RULES

Anyone can nominate a company, government department and organisation for an Achiever Award

• Self-nomination is allowed

• Only organisations operating within South African qualify to enter

• Nominations may be emailed or faxed.

• There is no cost to submit a nomination form.

• Entries may be made for more than one category, providing that a
   separate entry form is submitted for each category.


What does the winning programme receive?

• The company will receive an award and certificate to recognises the
   company’s contribution to skills development and training
   programmes for their employees. The winning company will receive a
   one-page advert and a one-page editorial profile to highlight their skills
   development and training programme within the Skills & Training
   Supplement that is being distributed with Achiever magazine
   (10 000 copies) and to all participants, sponsors and exhibitors.

• An independent judging panel made up of experts from the further
   education system will assess the entries. Nominations will be judged
   on how well they meet the published criteria for each category and not
   judged against each other. Judges look for clear and concise
   applications; examples may be used to demonstrate how the nominee
   meets the criteria of the category. The Judges decision is final.
