Russell is originally from Melbourne, Australia but has lived in Cape Town since January 2006 following 6 years in London, UK. He holds undergraduate degrees in Law, Commerce and Theology, a Masters in Social Policy and a post-graduate diploma in Development Management. Following four years practising as a solicitor, Russell has spent most of his professional life in senior roles with international NGO’s in Australia, the United Kingdom and South Africa. For 8 years prior to joining REAP in September 2010, he was Director of HOPEHIV, a UK based children’s charity with project partners all over East & Southern Africa. He is the founder and chairman of the National Bursary Support Providers Forum.
